Sub U Systems offers many different Ethernet switches of varying size, port density, Power over Ethernet capability to meet various IP network switching requirements in austere operating environments.
We leverage technology from market-leading technology providers (Cisco & Netgear) to build our product offerings. Our Cisco Ethernet switches leverage Cisco’s Embedded Service Switch hardware (ESS2020, ESS3300, and ESS9300) as well as commercial-off-the-shelf Cisco switches that can be modified to meet customer requirements while keeping appliance costs down. We leverage Netgear’s M4300 Half Rack Width Ethernet Switches for applications that require robust 10Gbps “Top of Rack” Ethernet switches in support of hyper-converged virtualization applications and other high-speed use cases.
Sub U Systems uses the Cisco ESS family of embeddable printed circuit board Ethernet switches and has developed several offerings that fall into our Half Rack Width, Quarter Rack Width, and Executive Communications form factors for use as part of an overall system solution or as a standalone robust rugged Ethernet switch.

Cisco 350 Managed Ethernet
The SUB-U Cisco 350 Managed Switch is a small form factor, rugged, wide range 9~36 DC input Layer 2 Cisco managed Ethernet switch that is offered in POE and non-POE variants. The switch offers 24 ports of gigabit Ethernet Interfaces, with 150 watts of POE in the 802.3af, at, and at+ modes (POE variant). Designed to be the same size as the SUB-U STEW and CCESR-2C, the SUB-U Cisco 350 Managed Switch is smaller than a ream of paper and offers hard mounting points for use in applications where the switch must be robustly retained. This low-cost, enterprise-class, rugged and portable Cisco Ethernet switch is much lower cost than competing offerings.
EC ESS 3300 Managed Ethernet Switch
The SUB-U Executive Communications Embedded Service Switch 3300 (EC ESS3300) is one of the latest additions to the SUB-U product family. Based on the latest Cisco ESS3300 embedded industrial-grade Ethernet switch embedded PCB, the EC ESS3300 switch offers (2) 10G and (8) 1G ports. Users can expect all the features and capabilities they have come to expect in Cisco Catalyst Layer 2 managed Ethernet Switches. The EC ESS 3300 also offers MACSec support for use in NSA Multisite Communications CSfC applications. SUB-U’s EC implementation of the Cisco ESS3300 also offers (8) 802.3at POE ports.
Half Rack Width Cisco ESS 3300
The SUB-U Half Rack Width Embedded Service Switch 3300 is one of the latest additions to the SUB-U product family. Based on the latest Cisco ESS330 embedded industrial-grade Ethernet switch, the HRW Cisco ESS3300 offers users all the features and capabilities they have come to expect in the Cisco Catalyst Layer 2 managed Ethernet switches. The HRW Cisco ESS 3300 features (2) 10G and (24) 1G ports, (16) ports offering 802.3at POE support. The HRW Cisco ESS3300 also offers MACSec support for use in NSA Multisite Communications CSfC applications.
NetGear M4300 Half Rack Width 10G Managed Switches
The NetGear M4300 family of Half Rack Width (HRW) Ethernet Switches represent SUB-U’s best value in “top of rack” managed Ethernet switches for use in tactical, edge of network, Hyper Converged Virtualization Infrastructure use cases where high performance is crucial and a quantity of 10G ports are required. SUB-U has developed a user swappable power supply that converts the M4300 HRW switches from AC current input to wide range dirty DC input. This user swappable power supply module also incorporates Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) logic and a small rechargeable hold up battery in the event of unexpected power failure.
Cisco 9200L Catalyst Ethernet Switch With Dirty DC
The SUB-U 1U Cisco 9200L Catalyst Ethernet Switch has been redesigned by SUB-U to replace the standard AC input with a wide range 9~36VDC input for use in applications where DC power input is preferred. The SUB-U 1U Cisco Catalyst Ethernet Switch retains its traditional 1U form factor and mounting locations and should be considered for Ethernet switching applications in austere locations where cost is a concern and/or running form DC current is preferred.
